YOUTH GROUP

Our Mission: To provide a safe space for all students to learn about and experience the love of Jesus; and to have the courage to pass it on to others.

Our youth group is a place to belong, a place to have fun, but most importantly it is a place to find the hope and love that only Jesus can provide. We welcome any and all students 6th – 12th grade. Come and join us on a Wednesday night from 6-8pm! We play games and have fun events. Each week we learn about God and discuss in small groups what we have learned. We also have weekend retreats in the winter and summer.

See what we have been up to!

Meet the Youth Director and Family

Hello! My name is Carolyn Yerxa, and I am the Youth Director here at New Spirit Church. A little over ten years ago I felt called by God to answer a need for volunteers with a local youth group. That call to volunteer has developed into a passion to reach the youth of our community and tell them about our amazing, loving God!

A little about me and my family. I am supported and helped by my husband, Kyle Yerxa, with youth ministry. I am originally from Ohio and moved to Maple Valley, WA right before high school. Kyle grew up in Auburn, WA. We met at a church after high school and within two years were married. We have lived in the Enumclaw Community for about 15 years.

Before starting the youth group at NSC, I served 11 years in youth ministry. The first four years as a volunteer and almost seven years as Youth Director at another local church. During that time, I also served a couple of years as a leader in our local Rainier Hills Younglife.

My husband Kyle went to the University of Washington and earned his bachelor's degree in Construction Management. He works as a Project Manager at a commercial electrical contractor in Kent, WA. Kyle has supported and helped in youth ministry with me for nearly seven years.

We have three amazing kids: Gabriel (18 and a Senior), Eliana (16 and a Sophomore) and Elijah (also 16 and a Sophomore). They love to spend time with friends and family, draw, swim, kayak, hike, camp and play video games.

We love to be together as a family and we often like to go on adventures; camping and visiting various places throughout the Pacific Northwest.
